The government last week said that it would implement a flexible working hours system for State institutions on a trial basis from January after consultation with government institutions.
The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development had instructed all government institutions to provide their input, pertaining to the initiative in order to implement the system without hampering progress.
Secretary to the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, Nihal Rupasinghe speaking to Weekend Nation said that the ministry would hold discussions with institutions during the next few weeks.
“We have received the input from the government institutions. We will first discuss with them about their concerns and then do a trial run in Battaramulla from January,” he said.
Accordingly, the government has suggested that government officials mark their attendance between 7am to 10am and leave work from 3pm to 6pm, depending on the time they sign in.
The aim of implementing the system is to ease traffic congestion.
