Sri Lanka will send two of their best powerlifters for the World Power Lifting Championships to be held in Florida, USA from November 12 to 19.

This is the first time that Sri Lanka has qualified to participate in the World Championships. This will also be the final qualifying event for the World Games that will be held in Poland next year.

Sri Lanka best power lifter is Ransilu Jayathilake who is ranked 21 in the world while Dhanushka Kadikara will be the other contestant who is 24th in the world ranking list.
Jayathilake’s aim is to finish within the best 12 athletes in the world ranking and qualify for the World Games. He also wishes to among the best six on the dead lift event, where he holds the Asian record in this event. The team will leave to Florida on November 11.
