A tribute was held recently at the Temple Trees to fete the artistes who were involved in the making of Rekhawa, a piece of celluloid which became the turning point of Sinhalese/Sri Lankan cinema, which turned 60 this year since its first screening six decades ago. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is seen here presenting a memento to the film’s director Lester James Peries. Peries’s wife, filmmaker Sumithra Peries too graced the occasion.
