In their endeavour to promote and elevate the standard of football in Sri Lanka, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) conducted a training and trainer programme at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal ground from October 3 to 6.

The programme conducted by the Technical Department of the FFSL saw 30 participants inclusive of physical education teachers and club coaches from Anuradhapura Education Zone turning up. There were also over 600 children who attended this programme which focussed on the grassroots level.

The schoolchildren were from Lyceum International School, Sri Vageragana Maha Vidyalaya, Holy Trinity Central College, Talawakele Maha Vidyalaya, Barathy Maha Vidyalaya, Ardlow Tamil Vidyalaya, St. Xaviers College, West Ward Tamil Vidyalaya, Zahira Vidyalaya, Upper Cranly Tamil Vidyalaya and Yathanside Tamil Maha Vidylalaya.
The Technical Director of FFSL Chaminda Steinwall instructed the programme and was assisted by Saman Bogodawatta. The programme was coordinated by the Secretary of Nuwara Eliya Football League Mahendran and the coach of Nuwara Eliya Football League Stephen.
