President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed authorities to probe the recent attack on a nightclub in Colombo, in which his son was also said to have been involved.
The incident took place on October 8, where a group had assaulted the Club Clique. One guard was reportedly injured and damage to property was also reported.
The CCTV footage of the incident was widely circulated in online portals and social media sites.
Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Karunarathne Paranawithana told reporters that the President has taken a decision to carry out a thorough investigation and he has instructed the police to do so.
Addressing the Cabinet Press Briefing, he added that the presidential investigations unit had also launched an investigations into the incident.
