Dr. Kapila Jayaratne, Consultant Community Physician and the National Programme Manager for Maternal and Child Morbidity and Mortality Surveillance at Family Health Bureau – Ministry of Health, was inducted as the 16th president of the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) last week.
The PSSL was established as a coalition of three distinct medical specialities dealing in the field of perinatology, obstetrics, paediatrics and public health in the year 2001. Over the last 15 years under the heads of obstetrics, paediatrics and public health on rotation, the PSSL contributed immensely to improve care for pregnant women, foetal wellbeing and newborns in the country.

Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, State Minister of Urban Planning and Water Supply Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala, past presidents and members of PSSL participated at the induction ceremony held at The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.
