Sri Lanka’s junior table tennis players failed to impress at the Asian Table Tennis Championship held in Thailand a few days ago.
They began by giving walkovers in the team event with their late arrival to Thailand. Even in the other singles events they failed miserably pulling off only a solitary win that did not add much to the performance of the team.
Krishan Wickramaratne beat Almutairi of Kazakstan in the junior boys group match.
Supun Warusawithana beat Allail Ali of Saudi Arabia, also in a group match.
Helitha Hendawitharana beat Akimali of Kasakstan in a Cadet boys’ singles event in a four setter.
Among the girls to pull off victories was Hansani Kapugeekiyana who beat Tan En of Singapore. Sheshala Bandara beat Azatova of Kazakstan in the girls singles group matches.
