A 17 year-old schoolboy has been arrested in connection with the hacking of the President’s official website last week.

Reports said that the student was arrested from Kadugannawa.

The President’s official website was hacked on August 24 by a group identifying itself the “Sri Lankan Youth”.

The group posted a statement on the site expressing its displeasure over the scheduling of GCE A/L examinations during the Sinhala/Hindu New Year while also urging President Maithripala Sirisena to ensure cyber security.

“If you cannot control the situation hold a Presidential Election. Stop the Prime Minister’s irresponsible work. Look more into the problems of the university students,” the message further said.
