With the vision of making Sri Lanka the knowledge hub in Asia, the Faculty of Computing of SLIIT recently announced it will be conducting CODEFEST for the 5th consecutive year with the Grand Finale of the competition slated to be held on November 04, at the SLIIT’s Malabe campus. CODEFEST, an initiative taken by SLIIT to elevate the standards of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Sri Lanka is a nationwide software competition aimed at harnessing and promoting software application design among school and university level students island-wide. Registrations will close on the September 10.
Coordinator of CODEFEST 2016, Dr. Pradeep Abeygunawardhana has set this year’s theme as “Smart Life”. CODEFEST 2016 will have three categories; school; tertiary and SLIIT talent. The school contestants can participate in a coding contest, ICT quiz competition and an Internet of Things contest. Under the tertiary category, contestants can participate in an overnight hackathon, an Internet of Things contest, Netcom and Capture the Flag contest. EXTO is a competition organized for SLIIT students to show their talents under theme of “Innovation for Tomorrow”.
Parallel to the variety of competitions, SLIIT will conduct a series of IT seminars in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to uplift awareness on ICT among students. The workshops will be held at 10 Centers Island wide. Registration forms can be downloaded via the event website: www.codefest.lk.
