Sportsmen and women who travel to Colombo from Kandy often encounter issues regarding accommodation

Kandy Schools Bash, the annual get-together of members of the Kandy Schools Past Pupils Association (KSPPA) will take place on August 27 (Saturday) at Longden Place. This event is considered as the annual family, sports and social get-together. This event has been held since 2007. This time, the organizing of the event is handled by St. Sylvester’s and St. Anthony’s Convent on behalf of the KSPPA.

This association was   founded in 2007  to unite the past pupils of  twelve Kandy  schools – St. Sylvester’s,   Dharmaraja, Mahamaya, Kingswood, Girls’ High, St. Anthony’s,  Good Shepherd Convent, Vidyartha, Pushpadana,  St. Anthony’s  Convent, Trinity  and Hillwood. The membership consists of the Colombo Branches of the Past Pupils’ Associations of these schools.

Their main aim is to help the Kandy Schools in sorting out issues regarding accommodation.  As a solution to this problem, the KSPPA has begun building hostels in Ratmalana, in the Sarvodaya premises. These facilities come in handy when there is a need to provide affordable accommodation to students who travel to Colombo for their sports activities.

These hostels are still under construction. They are hoping to uplift the facility by increasing the capacity to 100.  All these schools over here in Kandy have established a proud record of producing some top sports personalities in Sri Lanka in a wide range of sports such as rugby, cricket, football, swimming, hockey, athletics, table tennis, boxing, swimming, basketball, golf and even baseball.
