The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Sri Lanka on August 31, his spokesman Stepahné Dujarric had announced on Thursday (25).

Accordingly, the Secretary General will with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Government representatives and Members of Parliament.

He is also scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at a public event on the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 16, dedicated to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

The Secretary-General will visit a resettlement site in Jaffna in the North, and would also take part in an event on the role of youth in reconciliation and coexistence to be held in Galle.
