Former Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Prof. Ananda Samarasekara has sent a letter of demand to Colombo Chief JMO, Ajith Tennakoon, demanding Rs. 250 million as damages for allegedly making defamatory statements to the media.

Accordingly, Prof. Samarasekara has claimed that Tennakoon in an interview to a newspaper had provided fabricated information and baseless allegations pertaining to the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, and therefore had defamed his name.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today considered a pre-bail application filed by Prof. Samarasekara preventing his arrest.

Additional Magistrate Aruni Artigala issued summons to the respondent, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), to appear before court on August 30.
