There is no bigger eye catcher than a mass of shiny hair making up a person’s appearance. Shiny hair is a mark of healthy and well-nourished strands. Smooth and silky hair on a woman’s head is also one of the fantasies men pay attention to that has even sparked poetry. Shiny hair would add to the appearance despite the length of the hair, due to oil present in the outer layer of the strands.

When this outer layer is damaged, hair turns dull.  The reasons for dull hair vary to a considerable degree. Some of these reasons could be aging, stress, illness, nutritional deficiencies, bathing in chlorine water, use of chemical dyes and hair care products, over-exposure to sun, high mineral content in water and use of hair dryers and irons.
Regular hair-care is the key to shiny hair. There is no need to use expensive products for regular conditioning. This could be done by using some simple and natural home remedies.

Coconut oil
Organic, unrefined coconut oil is one of the best options to restore shine in the hair. Coconut oil nourishes hair and restores moisture which in turn results in healthy, shiny hair.

Take two tablespoons of organic, unrefined coconut oil and add a few curry leaves to it. Place the container with oil and curry leaves over a water bath and heat over the fire for about five minutes, until the oil is warm. Let the oil cool down. Before applying on head, carefully test whether it’s cool enough to apply to the scalp. Then, gently massage the oil onto scalp and hair. Cover with a warm towel for 30 minutes and wash off with a mild shampoo afterwards. Repeat twice a week for dry hair to normal hair and once a week
for oily hair.

Yes, you read that right. Beer is not just an excellent stress buster. It would also make your locks shine with pride. The proteins in beer like hops and malt, repair damaged hair cuticles and nourishes hair follicles, making it one of those rare and excellent hair tonics. This in turn makes hair silky and smooth.

First, wash your hair and shampoo. Then apply flat beer on hair, from root to tips. Massage the beer thoroughly on to the scalps, in gentle, circular motions. Leave on for about five minutes and then rinse off. Repeat twice a week for best results.

Eggs are one of the richest sources of nourishment for hair. It is a source of protein, fatty acids and lecithin. Eggs repair damaged hair by adding moisture and shine.Separate the egg white and add one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and one tablespoon of honey. Mix well until a paste of thick consistency is obtained. Wet the hair and scalp. Apply the paste thoroughly on hair and scalp. Cover with a showercap for 30 minutes. Then, wash off with a mild shampoo and cold water. Repeat once a week for soft, shiny hair. Make sure never to wash off egg with hot water. Hot water would clot the egg, making it more difficult to remove from hair.
