Without doubt, women’s eyes are their most attractive feature. A pair of sparkling expressive eyes can enchant and capture any heart. “The light, that lies in woman’s eyes, Has been my heart’s undoing…” wrote Thomas Moore in his poem, The Time I’ve Lost in Wooing. Today, most of us have lost the brightness in the eyes due to pollution, fatigue and health problems. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as, nutrition deficiencies, lack of sleep, dehydration, spending excessive time in front of a screen and many more. The best way to bring back the sparkle into the eyes is to use herbal remedies. They are natural, safe and have no adverse side effects. These remedies would be soothing on the eyes, but it is best to test them on the skin of the inner side of the arm before applying on eyes.

Rose water
Rose water is a timeless remedy used for all kinds of skin ailments. It is soothing and rejuvenating and helps restore the eyes’ natural sparkle. Rose water also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Cleanse face thoroughly. Then take two cotton balls and dip them in rose water. Lie down with eyes closed. Place the cotton balls on top of the eyelid and leave on for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove cotton balls and repeat as necessary.

Olive oil with tea bags
Green tea bags are one of the most popular home remedies to add shine to eyes. Green tea contains bioflavonoids which act as anti oxidant and anti allergen. Therefore the tea bags would help bacterial action and inflammation. Place two wet tea bags that have been used to make tea in the fridge to chill. Then, apply a bit of olive oil on the eye lids and around the eyes. This would help moisten the eyes. After some time, remove tea bags from the fridge. Lie down in a comfortable position and place the tea bags over closed eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes and remove tea bags. Wash face with lukewarm water and repeat daily for best results.

Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and anti aging properties. Thus, they would help restore natural brilliance to tired and dull eyes. Remove the top of a strawberry and cut into slices.  Cleanse face and lie down in a comfortable position. Place the strawberry slices on closed eye lids. Leave on for five minutes and then remove. Repeat every other day.

Almond with milk
Almonds are rich in antioxidants and vitamin E, which helps cell regeneration. Milk is rich in nutrients needed to moisturize, soothe and revitalize soft skin around eyes, adding a sparkle to eyes. Together, they make a sure-fire remedy for bright eyes. Take about five almonds and soak them overnight in water. In the morning, remove these almonds from water, peel them and crush them.

Add a teaspoon of fresh milk to this mixture to obtain a thick consistency. Then, cleanse face and apply the mixture around the eyes using the tip of the fingers. Be gentle and do not press the skin hard. Using the tips

of the two ring fingers, massage gently for three minutes. Make sure to massage in motions that move outward from the eyes, to prevent formation of wrinkles. After the massage, leave the paste on for 30 more minutes, before removing. Wash off with lukewarm water and repeat once a week for best results.
