The Hotel Show Colombo was held from July 22 to 24 at the BMICH. This 11th edition of the hotel show was inaugurated by John Amaratunga, The Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs. The theme of the year was ‘Hospitality Industry Vision 20-20’.
There were over 280 stalls from over 20 countries displaying products and services from all over the world. The exhibits ranged from bed linen, kitchen utensils, cleaning products, furniture, draperies, cutlery, glassware and dining ware. The display consisted products and services needed by those in hospitality industry. However, there were not many things that would have interested the general public who came to visit the exhibition unless they had a particular purpose in mind.
The utensils that were newly introduced are among the things that would have interested them. The interior and exterior designing stalls would have interested the general public. The displays were beautiful and inviting with their fancy beds, artistic furniture, décor and paneling. The exterior designing stalls had exotic plants, wooden chairs, sunbeds and swing chairs that looked inviting. The food stalls that were put up by the five star hotels would have interested the foodies.
