The four favourite teams contesting the Milo Schools Knockout Tournament, Royal, Isipathana, S. Thomas’ and St. Peter’s progressed to the semi-finals with only the Peterites having to sweat to clear its quarter final hurdle which came in the form of battling St. Anthony’s College Katugastota. All matches were played at the Royal Sports Complex.

The Royal vs Wesley game was keenly contested and the lads from Reid Avenue recorded a hard-fought 29-21 win over their opponents. The Peterites saw themselves battling a thriller, and they held their nerves to win this match 37-31.

Runners-up in the Cup Championship of the inter-school league tournament S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia shrugged off a challenge from Zahira in the last quarterfinal played on Tuesday. The Thomians won 43-10. In the first quarter-final, inter-school League Champions Isipathana College received a walkover from D.S. Senanayake College. (RN)
