Sri Lanka’s Leftist parties informed that the promotion of the services of science and research for foreign investors was not being implemented.
General Secretary of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party, former Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana said that making high tech value additions to raw materials in the form of for an example nanotechnology was presently receiving step-motherly treatment.
Research must be promoted for high tech products to be manufactured within the country especially with regards to establishing large scale enterprises for increasing the capabilities of foreign direct investments, he added.
The Government is not interested in setting up a modern scientific base for this, he noted. (RLJ)
