Brendon McCullum, New Zealand’s beloved ex-captain, delivered the MCC Spirit of Cricket lecture, the same event that Kumar Sangakkara delivered his impassioned speech  in 2011. McCullum, in the true spirit of gentlemen that he and his team strove to embody in the last few years, apologised to Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan for his wrong behaviour towards them in a particular match. He also talked about how the death of Australian cricketer Philip Hughes provided the team with perspective amidst that difficult time, as well as touching on the subject of match fixing in cricket.
