Although it is perfectly normal for human beings to have some sort of a scar on their body,most of us tend to find them irksome. If this is on a part of the body that couldn’t be hidden by clothes,such as the face, hands or legs, the effect of the scar is amplified. Most are self-conscious enough to ensure that their scars are never exposed in public. However, feeling comfortable in your own skin would  make you a lot happier long term. For those who find it a little bit difficult to adjust to their scar situation, we have provided home remedies, tried and tested over time.

Scars can be the result of acne, burns, eczema, insect bites, accidents and so on. Human body naturally erases these scars over time. These herbal remedies will speed up the process by promoting healthy, effective cell growth and healthy skin. It is important to cleanse the area thoroughly before trying out these herbal remedies.

Cocoa butter
This is an exceptional treatment for scars, although it is bit difficult to get hold of. It deeply moisturizes the scar region to smoothen and soften the skin. This, in turn promotes the growth of new cells where the scar tissue is. Vitamin E in cocoa butter further enhances the healing process by aiding skin repair. Take a tablespoon of pure cocoa butter and apply it on the scar. Make sure the area is cleansed beforehand. Massage gently, in circular motion, using the tips of your fingers. Leave overnight and wash off with luke warm water the next morning. Repeat daily for best results.

This is one of the god given herbs prescribed by the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda for all kinds of skin ailments. Sandalwood removes scars and blemishes, while healing and rejuvenating at the same time. Mix one teaspoon of sandalwood powder with a little bit of milk to form a paste of thick consistency. Apply on the scar and rub lightly. Then, leave on for an hour before washing it off. Repeat daily.

The hydration properties and healing powers of honey combine to form an excellent remedy for scars. Mix equal quantities of honey and sugar. Apply this on the scar and rub gently, in circular motion for few minutes. Leave on for 10 minutes and wash off with warm water. Pat dry, and apply a layer of fresh aloe gel. Make sure not to apply the yellowish parts of the aloe gel. Repeat twice a week.

Tomatoes are rich in vitamin A, carotene as well as antioxidants, which promotes repair of damaged tissues, regrowth of scar tissue, and bleaching of the scar. Take a ripe tomato, wash it well in cold water and then chop it into pieces. Squeeze out the juice and strain off the debris. Cleanse the affected area and then apply the juice. Leave on for 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat daily for best results.
