The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is expected to meet the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Al-Hussein before he presents his oral submission at the upcoming UN Human Rights Council scheduled to start this month.
It is expected that the TNA delegation would hold discussions with the High Commissioner on various issues including freeing the detainees, and release of lands.
The 32nd sessions of the UN Human Rights Council will commence in Geneva on June 13 and will conclude on July 1.
A resolution was passed on Sri Lanka at the 29th sessions of the Council. Accordingly, Al-Hussein is expected to submit the oral presentations to the Council on June 29 on the developments pertaining to the issues addressed in the resolution.
The TNA delegation which plans to meet the High Commissioner ahead of his oral submission would explain the progress made by Sri Lanka on several aspects mentioned in the resolution.
