The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) will be lodging complaints against defamatory remarks made against its members by MP Chathura Senaratne to the Inspector General of Police and the Speaker.
Secretary of the GMOA, Dr. H.M. Nalinda P. Herath said that apart from filing legal action against Senaratne for remarks against the membership of the Executive Committee of the GMOA, the General Committee of the GMOA had also taken a decision to boycott all meetings attended by Senaratne.
We have made certain amendments to the list of doctors’ appointments and transfers, which had previously been manipulated, he added, noting that Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne had yet to approve of them, which the GMOA hoped would take place soon.
“Regarding the call made by us to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to remove Rajitha Senaratne, our main opposition was that Rajitha Senaratne was not honouring the right of the GMOA,” he added. (RJ)
