Dark knees and elbows act as a major snag when one wants to go all trendy with short skirts, shorts, minidresses, sleeveless and likewise. Granular texture of oatmeal serves as an excellent scrub. Combined with honey, this would simultaneously add moisture to your skin. Mix two tablespoons of oatmeal with two tablespoons of honey. Apply on cleansed knees and leave on for two minutes. Then gently massage in circular motion for ten minutes, using the tips of your fingers. Then wash off with lukewarm water. Now your knees should look light and clean.
This heavenly ingredient is rich in vitamin E, which is essential to lighten skin tone. In addition, it would hydrate and moisturize the skin. After the oat meal scrub, it is best to follow with a rubbing of coconut oil. This could be applied all over body, after the oatmeal scrub. A daily application of coconut oil on your body will lighten the skin tone and keep it moisturized, avoiding further darkening.
Alternatively, one teaspoon of coconut oil could be mixed with half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this on the knees and elbows, leave on for 20 minutes and gently wipe off with paper towels. Repeat once daily.
Lactic acid in yoghurt acts as a lightening agent. At the same time it also acts as a cleanser and a moisturizer. Mix one teaspoon of yoghurt and one teaspoon of vinegar until you get a smooth paste. Apply it on cleansed knees and elbows, leave on to dry, and wash off with lukewarm water. Pat dry and apply coconut oil.
Mint has whitening properties and it also promotes collagen, which makes it an ideal remedy for dark patches. Add a handful of mint leaves to half a cup of water and boil for three minutes. Then, squeeze out fresh juice from half a lime to this mixture. Strain and leave the solution to cool. Next, rub the juice on your knees and elbows, leave on for 20 minutes and wash off with Luke warm water. Repeat twice a day for best results.
Baking soda with milk
Baking soda removes dead skin cells and reduces hyper pigmentation around knees and elbows. Add one tablespoon of baking soda to one tablespoon of milk. Apply on knees and elbows and massage in circular motion for three minutes. Then wash with Lukewarm water and pat dry. Repeat every other day.
Take about four almonds and crush them into powder. Mix two tablespoons of this powder with a little bit of yoghurt, to make a paste with thick consistency. Apply on knees and elbows and leave on to dry. Then wet your fingers and rub in circular motion for two minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat daily for best results.
