The Health Ministry last week urged the public to consume home cooked food and boiled water to avoid water borne diseases following flash floods in several parts of the country.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday (19), Director General Health Services, Dr. Palitha Mahipala advised the public to refrain from consuming food and water from outside.

“Generally people are vulnerable to several water borne diseases soon after floods. Therefore, it is important that people stick to home cooked food and boiled water,” he said.

He also said that the post flood situation would also result in threats of dengue.
