The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) and Bodu Jana Peramuna (BJP) called on all those organizing dansals (alms-giving stalls) to provide cooked and ready to consume food and drink to those suffering due to the rain, floods including flash floods and landslides.

The present adverse weather conditions and disaster situation has and are affecting over 22 Districts in the country. This has resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries, hundreds reported missing, the displacement of hundreds and thousands of families, and innumerable losses and damages to properties and belongings including goods.

The BBS and BJP led by Chief Executive Officer of the BBS, Dr. Dilanthe Withanage and General Secretary of the BBS, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera noted that the people suffering were yet to receive adequate amounts and sufficient quantities of aid in terms of cooked food and essential relief services.

Therefore the dansals which were and are being organized during the vesak week, declared by the Government as being from May 18 to May 24, should arrange and act to give cooked and prepared meals to those affected by these natural disasters, the duo relayed.

All people should contribute or consider contributing to these efforts, they observed.
