A group of 32 Army personnel including two officers of two Sri Lanka Singha Regiment (SLSR) have thrown their full weight behind rescue operations at Ilukwaththa, Ranmalaka, Pilimathalawa where a landslide which destroyed two houses buries six people on May 16 night.

Troops who rushed to the scene a few minutes after the incident have been engaged in their search for any survivors who are believed to have been buried alive. People in the vicinity and other volunteers have extended their support to rescue operations being carried out by the troops.

Meanwhile, two dead bodies of the landslide victims at the Pilimathalawa were recovered by the troops a few minutes ago.
