The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is likely to hold discussions with the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) Ltd over concerns raised by SLPA over the recommencement of the Port City project.

Chairman, SLPA, Dammika Ranatunga stated that the SLPA was no longer involved with the project but had invested a lot before its suspension.

However, he pointed out that the involvement of SLPA was crucial in order to ensure that the project did not affect the existing infrastructure of the port.

“There are issues such as ship movements that we are concerned about. We have to make sure that the project does not affect the existing infrastructure of the Port. We also need to ensure proper coordination of using the shipping routes,” he added.
