Thought you couldn’t get rid of stretchmarks because they are not superficial discolouration such as sun burns or dark spots? Think again. There are a number of home remedies to get rid of these unsightly scars.
Stretch marks are lines on the skin surface with a marked colour variation and usually occur on thighs, upper arms, buttocks and breasts. Sudden gain or loss in weight, rapid growth, heredity factors and even stress and changes in physical conditions can cause stretchmarks. Leave aside all the scientific explanations, simply put, stretch marks are marks made on the skin as one puts on and loses weight. Stretchmarks can make you self conscious and wearing uncomfortable clothes that expose marks. Try some of the home remedies and let stretch marks worry you no more.
Take two-three apricots. Cut and remove their seeds. Grind them to form a paste. Apply the paste directly on the marks. Leave for 20 minutes. Then, rinse it with lukewarm water. Follow the process for one month to see the promising results.
We’ve been suggesting Aloe vera as a home remedy every week, since we started this column. There is an Aloe solution for stretchmarks as well.There are a few ways Aloe vera’s healing and soothing properties can be used to get rid of stretchmarks.
Either: Rub aloe vera gel on the stretch marks, leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
Or: Make a mixture with one-fourth cup of aloe vera gel, oil from 10 vitamin E capsules and oil from five vitamin A capsules. Rub this mixture onto the affected area until fully absorbed. Repeat process daily.
Whip the whites of two eggs gently with a fork. Clean the affected area with water. Apply a thick layer of egg whites using a makeup brush. Allow the egg whites to dry completely and then rinse with cold water. Apply some olive oil on the skin to moisturize skin. Repeat process daily for at least two weeks.
Apply castor oil on the marks and gently massage in circular motions for 5 to 10 minutes.Wrap with a thin, cotton cloth. Apply heat, for at least a half an hour, using a hot water bottle or a heating pad. Repeat process daily for a minimum of one month to notice positive results.
Natural acids in lemon helps heal and reduce stretchmarks, acne and other scars.
Either: Rub fresh lemon juice gently onto the marks in circular motions. Allow the lemon juice to soak into skin for at least 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
Or: Mix equal quantities of cucumber juice and lemon juice and apply mixture on stretch marks.
Mix a tablespoon of sugar with almond oil and a few drops of lemon juice. Mixwell and apply it on the marks and surrounding skin.Gently rub the mixture on the skin for a few minutes everyday before taking a shower. After continuing this for a month or so your stretchmarks will become lighter.
Black tea is rich in vitamins B, C and E, and is a great source of minerals. Vitamin B complex helps to enhance hair, skin and nailhealth. Vitamin B12 helps regulate skin pigment production and also prevents hyperpigmentation and age spots.
Boil two tablespoons of black tea and one teaspoon of salt in water for two minutes. Leave to cool and apply on the marks.
