The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka is organizing a seminar to discuss the current electricity crisis in Sri Lanka. The seminar, which is to be held on Monday, 25th April at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, starting at 2 pm will be moderated by Past President, Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, Srilal Miththapala.
The discussion will cover the current electricity crisis in Sri Lanka, the historical perspectives, lessons learnt and the possible way forward for establishing a stable electricity supply system in Sri Lanka.
Topics such as, ‘Sri Lanka’s Power Generation – Past, present and future,’ ‘How the stakeholders should work together to ensure crisis free electricity supply in Sri Lanka,’and ‘Renewable Energy, a solution? Lessor knows issues,’ will also come under discussion.
Mrs. Dhara Wijayatilake, CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Damitha Kumarasinghe, CEO, PUCSL, Engineer. Dr. Jayantha Ranatunga, Chairman, PUCSL Consultative Committee, Anura Wijayapala, Chairman, CEB, and Dr. Thilak Siyambalapitiya, Energy Consultant will take part as the resource persons of the seminar.
Real estate expo
Lamudi.lk, a portal covering Sri Lanka’s property listings said it is holding a real estate exhibition in May where developers will showcase upcoming projects. Lamudi Avic Real Estate Expo 2016 will be held at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
“This two day convention will welcome thousands of visitors hoping to explore the projects currently available all over the rapidly developing island,” the company said in a statement.
AVIC is a Chinese conglomerate that is building a mixed development project in Colombo. Real estate developers will exhibit projects and in the exhibition.
“Real estate agents will also be on hand, presenting houses, apartments and commercial property to potential buyers,” the firm said.
Banks, financial institutions, construction companies, architects and designers will also be at the expo, ready for visitors’ and investors’ questions.
SL to host WEDF
Sri Lanka will host World Export Development Forum (WEDF) in Colombo in October 2016, Cabinet spokesman Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said. The WEDF is held each year by International Trade Centre (ITC) a joint agency of the World Trade Organization and United Nations.
The forum will help highlight openness to international business, International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama had told the cabinet of ministers.
