The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has demanded an explanation from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for publishing of notices on power interruptions without obtaining approval from the commission.

In a letter dated March 29, 2016, Chairman, PUCSL, Saliya Mathew alleged the CEB had violated the Transmission and Bulk Supply Licence by publishing scheduled interruption timings without the approval of the commission.

The CEB yesterday published timings of scheduled power interruptions, but was later taken off from its website.

According to Condition 30 (Item 10) of the Licence, the Transmission Licencee is required to obtain prior approval from the commission for scheduled interruptions.

The PUCSL has demanded the CEB to submit explanations within a week for not complying with the licence agreement.
