The confrontation between underdogs CR&FC and Kandy Sports Club in their Dialog inter-club Clifford Cup Knockout tournament final at Race Course on March 26 (Saturday) should turn out to be a closely fought out affair. Kick-off is scheduled for 4.30 pm.
CR and FC will miss the services of the experienced Ashan de Costa, Anuradha Herath, Supun Warnakulasooriya, Lahiru Pavithra, Shameer Fajudeen and Rochana Hettiarachchi due to injuries. Their places will be taken by Rehan Silva, Thariq Saleh, Malith Hettiarachchi, Nipuna Devinda and Prince Chamara. Burly prop forward Shane Sambandapperuma will start as one of the prop forwards for this game allowing former national under-19 player Arun Kumar to play in his pet position as number eight.
The Kandy ‘eight’ led by national player Buwaneka Udangamuwa will have the services of Kishore Jehan, Shehan Dimithri, Piyumal Manchanayaka, Soyuru Anthony, Shehan Pathirana and Heshan Kalhara who are expected to give off a robust display in the loose.
