Minister of Higher Education and Highways last week launched a special programme ‘Road Week’ in order to broaden developmental activities to other parts of the country.
The programme was launched at the Hasalaka-Minipe Divisional Secretariat on Thursday (17) by the Minister himself.
Accordingly, the programme would focus not only on road development, but would also look at the development of various other aspects.
The Ministry in a statement said that the programme would take into consideration the needs of specific areas. Accordingly, the relevant Government officials in the region would also be included within the programme to address the developmental needs of the people.
The Ministry pointed out that developmental works in the past were focused on certain regions and areas. Accordingly, the focus of this programme is to broaden development to other rural areas of the country so that all people would benefit.
