Once again proving their dominance in the International schools’ athletic arena, Lyceum International School Wattala, affiliated to the Lyceum Group of Schools, walked away with the Championship Trophy at the International Schools Athletic Championship (ISAC ) 2016.
ISAC 2016 was held from March 4-6 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama. The event was organized by Lyceum International School Nugegoda. The school took measures to ensure that the stadium had every facility necessary to make the event a success. Thus the athletes, judges and the spectators were able to enjoy the three-day meet without any discomfort.
From the first day itself Lyceum International School Wattala dominated the track and field events. At the conclusion of the meet they won the overall championship, establishing four new records and aggregating a remarkable score of 981 points.
Gateway International School, Colombo won the runner-up position, aggregating 979 points. Lyceum International School Panadura, took third place with a score of 504 points.
The trophies were awarded by Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga, who captained the Sri Lankan cricket team to victory at the Cricket World Cup in 1996.
ISAC 2016 was further graced by the presence of the Founder of Lyceum Group of School State Minister of Higher Education- Mohan Lal Grero.
The Kandyan dancing troupes of Lyceum International School Nugegoda added colour to the opening and closing ceremonies of the event with attractive dance items.
Edexcel was the principal sponsor of ISAC 2016, while McDonald’s was the co-sponsor. The special sponsors were Soltrim International (Pvt) Ltd, Lyceum Careers & Higher Education Services and Ceylon Biscuits Limited.
In addition, Mobitel, EducGeek, Sri Lanka Telecom, Hirdaramani Group also came forward as sponsors of the event.
