In a bid to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the historic 1996 Cricket World Cup victory by the Sri Lankans, arrangements have been made by Sri Lankan Cricketers Association to have this team led by Arjuna Ranatunga play an exhibition T20 cricket match against an All Stars XI at the CCC grounds on March 19.
This match will give cricket fans the opportunity to witness some of their old stars in action with the support of Singer Sri Lanka who were the official sponsor of that team.

The Sri Lankan cricketing legends like the first Test captain Bandula Warnapura, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena who elaborated Lankan cricket in the last three decades since 1980 are due to represent the ‘All Stars X1’ on this occasion.

Arrangements have also been made to stage a musical evening featured by well known-Sri Lankan artistes after the match. Whilst enjoying music the cricket fans will get a great opportunity to meet their cricketing heroes of yesteryears who will be there to grace this wonderful occasion.

Organizers invite all cricket-loving fans to participate in this great event which will not only provide fun of cricket and music but also a rare opportunity for the public to be a partner of a noble deed. Proceeds of this event would be invested in launching a water-purifying project with a view to supplying pure water for the people in the North and East, who have been badly affected due to consumption of contaminated water. This has led to kidney ailments among the people of that area and also in building a trust fund for the welfare of past cricketers who are in need of
financial assistance.
