President Maithripala Sirisena has reportedly warned all SLFP Central Committee members to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner following the last week’s clash between Joint Opposition MP Kumara Welgama and Gampaha District SLFP Organizer Olitha Premaratne after the Central Committee ended, SLFP sources disclosed to Nation.

It was reported that during the sessions Welgama and Premaratne clashed over Welgama putting up posters with Rohitha Abeygunawardene with a symbol of a flower bud.
Wegama had argued that he was true SLFPer and not a crossover from the UNP. At that juncture, Premaratne who happens to be a UNP crossover had lost his cool and screamed at Welgama saying that Welgama was traitor who joined the Joint Opposition in Parliament opposing President Sirisena’s leadership in the party.

After the sessions ended eye witnesses said that Premaratne had come charging at Welgama outside the conference room and Welgama too had taken the challenge.  The duo had been separated by Nuwara Eliya District MP, C.B. Ratnayake. Later party seniors had informed the President of the ugly development after the sessions ended.
