The 137th battle of the ‘Blues’ cricket big match between S.Thomas’ College Mt.Lavinia and Royal College Colombo, the oldest cricket match in the world, will be played over a period of three days from March 10-12 at the SSC grounds.  S. Thomas’ remains as one of the only two teams to have won all their matches at the group stage of the U19 Division 1 tournament. Royal, promoted from Division 11, played excellent cricket to collect 116 points. Their achievements have helped them become the second best team in Group B. The Royal-Thomian annual cricket match commenced in 1879.

Royal College will be captained by Geesdhath Panditharathna while rugby player turned cricketer Sachitha Jayathilaka will captain the Thomian side.

As of 2015, the tally stands as both Royal and S.Thomas’ having 34 wins each.

Royal College is the current holder of the D.S Senanayake Shield after having won the match in 2013.

Traditional One-day encounter between these two schools will be played on March 19 at the R.Premadasa International Stadium.
