Hasini Chandrasiri, an artist from childhood, uses a number of mediums including acrylic paints, gel pens, pencils, charcoals and watercolours. She has also branched out as a cartoon artist and a children’s book illustrator. ‘Flying Colours’, her maiden exhibition, will take place from February 26 to 28 at the Lionel Wendt.

Hashini was born and grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka and started drawing when she was just three years old. It started when she obtained her first certificate for a painting she did for the Children’s day in 1997. With this she started her journey through colours and lines. As a young artist, she won several local and international awards including gold and silver medals for her artistic talents. She was the ‘Rose of the Lidice – Super Gold Medal’ winner at the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts competition, held in Czechoslovakia in year 2006.

She practised drawing under the instructions of Lionel Ranaweera and Dr. Chandraguptha Thenuwara.
