The match between fourth placed Police SC and fifth placed Army SC in their Dialog ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament second round match at Police Park on 27 February (Saturday) should turn out to be a closely fought out affair. The match will commence at 4.30pm.

The forte of both teams has been their power-packed forwards. The Army ‘eight’ led by captain cum national player Ashoka Jayalal, Sameera Wickramanayaka, Dileepa Niroshan, Nalaka Maduranga, Nishantha Kobbekaduwa, Upul Abeynayaka, Chameera Silva and Manoj Silva have to give a terrific display in the loose and secure possession if they are to pull off this game. Much is expected of Police forwards spearheaded by burly Terence Henry, Achala Perera, skipper Udara Gayan, Romesh Achirige, Charles Praveen, Sharo Fernando, Joel Perera and Radeesha Ranjan.

The Army three quarters are led by vice captain cum centre three quarter Imanka Ariyapala along with his younger brother and ex-Vidyartha captain Dinusha Ariyapala. They have to rally around his three quarter line if they are to stop the free flowing Police three quarters, led by national 15-a-side player and fly half Rehan Weerakoon.

In another game scheduled for February 27, third placed CR and FC will take on seventh placed Air Force at Longden Place.
