The Sri Lanka Navy has suspended four of their rugby players for wearing wristbands during a match against Army.
The wrist bands displayed “YO-O7” . Incidentally the Navy rugby team won the hard fought game by 32 points to 30 over Army.
Speaking exclusively to Nation, Navy spokesman Captain Akram Alavi said “The four Navy players has been suspended from the team but the suspension period is yet to be decided since the investigations are being carried out into the incident. But he confirmed the four players will definitely not play in the important rugby match against Kandy SC in Welisara. Speaking further he said that this is an internal suspension carried out by the Navy and it’s nothing to do with the rules of either IRB (International Rugby Board) or ARFU (Asian Rugby Football Union).
