The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)’s Central Committee will convene on February 12 to discuss and decide on taking severe disciplinary action against certain Party members.
General Secretary of the SLFP, Minister Duminda Dissanayake said that it had been proposed by the Party that serious disciplinary action be taken against Party Members who violate the Party’s disciplinary code and rules.
When queried as to whether the move was motivated by the impending formation of a new political party composed also of breakaways from the Party, he added that, ”We have no problem with such. The only issue is that while being in one Party one cannot go against the Constitution of that Party, of which one holds the Membership of.”
He declined to comment about the names of the politicians whose Membership was hanging in the balance.
