Wife of former Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated Lalith Kotelawala, Sicille Kotelawala has been ordered by Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage to be remanded till February 23.

She has been transferred from a private hospital where she was receiving treatment to the National Hospital, Colombo.

She was arrested by officials of the Department of Immigration and Emigration at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake on February 04 for evading arrest.

She, a Director of the Golden Key Credit Card Company, was arrested on her arrival to the island from Dubai via London and was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Previously in 2009, the Mount Lavinia Magistrate had issued an open warrant for her arrest.

While Lalith Kotelawala was remanded for the misappropriation of investments worth over Rs 26 billion from the failed Golden Key Credit Card Company, part of the Ceylinco Group of Companies, which defrauded deposits made by the public, Sicille Kotelawala had fled the country subsequent to the collapse of the Company, with even the Interpol issuing warrants and red notices for her arrest.

Police Media Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekera was not available for a comment.
