The Sihala Ravaya today said that they would organize a peaceful march to request the President and the Cabinet for the release of military intelligence personnel and monks who were arrested for protesting the arrest of General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera.
President of the Sihala Ravaya, Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana Thera said around one thousand monks will soon peacefully march to Colombo to request President Maithripala Sirisena and the Cabinet to release military intelligence personnel presently in remand along with the monks who were arrested for attempting to fight for and protect their rights
He noted that if the law applied to all equally there was no reason why monks presently arrested for protesting the arrest of General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera could not be granted bail on February 09.
Two monks from the said group are also among those arrested.
The Thera alleged that certain groups comprised of lawyers presently criticizing groups like the Sihala Ravaya were religious fundamentalists on the payroll of non-governmental organizations operating on foreign lucre, and it was their agenda to destroy and silence the Buddha sasana.
