Democratic Party (DP) led by Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka will be joining with the United National Party (UNP) tomorrow officially at a simple ceremony to be held at the Temple Trees.
An agreement will be signed by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and DP leader Sarath Fonseka.
A spokesman for the Democratic Party said that all arrangements have been made for the signing of the agreement. The agreement will be inked at 3.00pm tomorrow.
It is speculated that Fonseka would fill the seat left vacant due to the demise of National List MP and former Minister M K A D S Gunawardana.
“But nothing has been decided about appointing Fonseka as an MP or giving him a ministerial portfolio,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP), Minister Kabir Hashim stated that few names were being discussed for the National List slot and a decision will be taken before the agreement is signed.
