The Tamil People’s Council (TPC) is set to come out with its proposals for a durable solution to the national issue today, sources said.
The proposals were drafted by a sub committee appointed by the leadership of the TPC last month. While the content of the proposals were not revealed by the TPC, its co-chair and Northern Province Chief Minister, C.V. Wigneswaran said that it would complement the demands of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
TNA recently urged that the proposed constitutional reforms include devolution of power through which a solution for the longstanding national question could be reached.
In addition, informed sources stated that the TNA would also take into consideration the proposals made by the TPC. It is also learnt that both the TNA and the TPC would look at working together on placing their demands to the Government pertaining to solution to the issues faced by the people in the North and East.
