Sri Lanka U-19 cricket team produced a brilliant display with bat and ball to beat Canada U-19 by 196 runs in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka piled up a massive 315 with half centuries coming from opener Kaveen Bandara, skipper Charith Asalanka, vice captain Shammu Ashan and wicket-keeper cum middle order bat Vishad Randika. Meanwhile all-rounder Wanidu Hasaranga struck a quickfire 13-ball 28 inclusive of three fours and two sixes late down the order which paved the way for the Sri Lanka U-19 team to end the innings on a high by scoring 300 plus in their allotted 50 overs.
In response, Canada succumbed to the pace of medium pacies Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara who captured two wickets apiece along with spinners left armers Thilan Nimesh and Damith Silva as they too captured two wickets each enabling Sri Lanka to bowl out Canada for 119 in 40 overs. Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka was named man of the match for his magnificent knock of 76 which came off 69 balls with the courtesy of nine hits to the rope. Asalanka led the team brilliantly with his superb bowling changes and field setting which enabled them to get rid of the Canadian team for a mere 119 runs.
