If you have greasy hair that sticks together even after washing, making it look unwashed and dirty, oily hair may very well be your nightmare. Oily hair is the result of your sebaceous glands (oil glands), secreting more sebum (oil), same as your skin. It is prone to dandruff, itchiness and subsequent hair fall. This can be the result of hormones, stress, or your genetic makeup.

However, if your hair is oily, it indicates that it’s healthy, as oil is vital in maintaining healthy hair. All you need is to keep the scalp clean, but frequent use of shampoo and washing is not the solution. Washing your hair too often makes your hair thin and weak, while, chemicals in some shampoos can excessively dry your hair. Therefore, shampoo your hair only every other day and ensure that you wash off the shampoo properly. With the aid of some simple home remedies, you could clean your hair effectively leaving it healthy and shiny.

It is important that you avoid conditioner and hair styling products as much as possible. Also, it is a good idea not to comb your hair too often, as combing stimulates secretion of more oil. Most importantly, avoid scratching your scalp in all cases.
