A spectacular 45 metre last minute penalty by ex-Science College skipper cum full back Prince Chamara gave CR and FC a close 27 ( 3 Tries, 3 Conversions, 2 Penalties) to 25 ( 3 Tries, 2 Conversions, 2 Penalties) win against Navy SC in their Dialog ‘A’ Division Inter-club League Rugby Tournament second round fixture on January 23 at Welisara. The Winners were trailing 17-14 at half time.

For CR, former Josephian skipper cum flanker Thariq Saleih (son of ex CH and FC flanker Imran Saleih) had an outstanding game where he scored two tries. Fly half Ashan De Costa scored one try. Full back Prince Chamara converted all three tries and fired across two penalties.

Centre Lee Keegal, winger Buddima Piyarathna and flanker Yoshitha Rajapakse scored one try apiece for Navy while full back Thilina Weerasinghe converted two tries and put over two penalties.

Referee Dinka Peiris had a horrible game.

In another match played on the same day Kandy SC beat a fighting Air Force SC team by 60 ( 10 Tries, 5 Conversions ) 16 ( 1Try, 1 Conversion, 3 Penalties) at  Ratmalana.
