Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is expected to arrive in the country as part of a two day visit to Sri Lanka and Maldives.

He is expected to meet several dignitaries including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maheshini Colonne during his visit to the island, Indian reports said.

The main purpose of the visit is reportedly to look into the preparation process of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Colombo next month.

The Commission meeting will be attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
