Five cattle were killed and two persons injured when a lorry allegedly transporting cattle without a valid licence ran off the road and struck a house in Horana this morning.
Police Media Unit said 18 cattle had been inside the lorry when the incident occurred and five of the bulls were killed in the accident. The driver of the vehicle had fled after the accident, leaving his two assistants, who suffered injuries. The injured persons were admitted to the Horana Hospital.
Police said investigations had revealed that the lorry did not possess a valid licence to transport cattle. Horana Police are conducting further investigations.
