Sri Lanka is expected to sign ten Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and pacts with Pakistan during the three-day visit of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif scheduled from January 4-6.
This will be Sharif’s first visit to Sri Lanka since President Maithripala Sirisena took office. Sharif last visited the island nation in November 2013 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Following are some of the MoUs expected to be signed between the two countries that have already received Cabinet approval.
Agreement between the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs and Ministry of Youth Affairs in the Republic of Pakistan on cooperation in the youth development field
MoU on exchange of statistical and census data between Sri Lanka and Pakistan
MoU on science, technology and innovations between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Science and Technology in Pakistan
MoU between the National Science Foundation in Sri Lanka and the Science Foundation in Pakistan scientific and technological cooperation
MoU between the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Export Development Board of Sri Lanka.
