The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has given the government two weeks to address several pressing issues. These include matters pertaining to the State sector in the 2016 Budget proposals, the Indo-Lanka trade agreement and the issue regarding the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) in Malabe.

Issuing a media release today, the GMOA further warned that if the government failed to address these issues in the given time frame, the trade union will be compelled to launch an island-wide strike in the first week of January. The release further stressed that the island-wide strike would be launched with the support of other trade unions as well.

The media release also stated that the GMOA would make an announcement in this regard on January 4.
